About Tokyo Metropolitan University:

TMU is the only public university established by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, the host city for the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2020. TMU has three campuses in Tokyo. It takes about 30 minutes by train from central Tokyo to the Minami-Osawa Campus (its main campus), which prides on the excellent learning environment with lush greenery. Currently, a total of 9,070 students (about 6,900 undergraduate students and about 2,170 graduate students) are enrolled at TMU, and about 680 faculty members are employed, who are excellent researchers achieving significant outcomes in the various fields of research. In the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2016-2017, TMU was ranked 9th (tie) among Japanese universities. More than 10 years have passed since the establishment of the university. As the social circumstances are changing significantly, TMU is planning to consolidate its education and research resources, to strengthen the cutting-edge areas, and to reorganize its organizational structure so that it can meet demands of a new era. TMU has 7 faculties with 23 divisions and courses, as well as 7 graduate schools (restructuring being planned for April 2018), offering a wide range of education and research fields.
